Hello, I’m Melissa, and endometriosis has been my silent companion for years, marking my life with pain, uncertainty, and emotional challenges. This disease, which affects 10% of women, can not only cause infertility and irreversible damage but also turn daily life into a constant struggle.
In my case, the battle began in my adolescence, leading to a complicated surgery that left me without one ovary. But the hardest blow came when I tried to start a family. Then, the sadness and anger I had been carrying without realizing it emerged.
On this journey, I have learned something invaluable: the body is wise, but the soul is even wiser. Today, I do not see myself as a victim, but as someone seeking solutions to improve my quality of life.
I have been fortunate not to be alone in this fight. My family, friends, and especially my parents have been essential pillars to help me keep going. I am also deeply grateful to my patient husband, who has been by my side every step of the way. Thank you for your unconditional support, for allowing us to share our story's most difficult and intimate moments, and for believing that our experience can help others.
I also want to thank my very dear gynecologist and friend, who has been a dedicated guide. Now, I am preparing to take a new step.
After thorough research, I found an endometriosis specialist who offers a possible solution. To move forward, I need to undergo a specialized MRI, a crucial step to understand the severity of the endometriosis and define the best plan of action. Depending on the results, surgery to remove the affected areas of the disease may be necessary.
Additionally, if all goes well, we want to try again with fertility treatments. However, this path will not be easy or inexpensive. The medical costs, medications, studies, and travel are financial challenges that we cannot overcome alone. That is why I am here, opening my heart and asking for your help, which has not been easy to ask for, but I also know that with your support, I can make a real change.
Dreams hurt when they break because they are fragile, but dreaming is also necessary. So, any contribution will be a ray of light to us. Your help goes directly to us and will mean access to a better quality of life and the opportunity to change the narrative of our story.
Thank you for being part of this chain, for believing in me, and for illuminating our path.
