End-of-Year Emergency Surgery: Help Me Start 2025 Pain-Free
Donation protected
Unfortunately, here I am again, facing my third unexpected surgery in the past two years—but let’s hope this will finally be the last. While on a trip to NYC hosting a benefit for my community in WNC for Hurricane Helene Relief, my back-right wisdom tooth started causing me serious pain.
You might be wondering why it’s still in there at my big age of 30. Honestly, when I was younger, the dentist told me my “big mouth” could fit all my teeth. Unfortunately, a bike accident back in August 2023 changed all that. The accident fractured my jaw and shifted all my teeth, which has now led to the unbearable pain I’m experiencing today.
Thanks to the generosity of close friends and a comedy show fundraiser, I managed to get through that traumatic series of events in 2023. But this time, the situation has caught me even more off guard. It’s the end of the year, and I only have a few days before the oral surgeon’s office closes until 2025.
I’m known for powering through pain, but this pain is brutal. As soon as my pain meds wear off, it feels like someone’s taking a mallet to my jaw. As hard as it is for me to ask for help… I need it.
I’ve seen the dentist, and they’ve told me I need emergency oral surgery this Friday. I can choose to remove just the tooth causing the most pain, but my X-rays show that the other wisdom teeth are likely to follow suit soon. If possible, I’d like to get them all out at the same time, so I can move into 2025 without having to be God’s strongest soldier.
Once again, our healthcare system has failed another American. I’m so grateful to have a community I can lean on and people who’ve got my back, but my heart breaks for those who don’t. This system fails people every day, and no one in power even bats an eye. Shame.
I’ve been out of work since the hurricane, and the job search has been bleak. As much as I wish I had a well-paying job with insurance right now, I don’t—so I’m putting my pride aside. For anyone who has read this and is willing to donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know there are so many people in need in this world, so thank you for sharing a little bit with me.
Additionally, with my GoFundMe—since it can take a few days for transfers—you can send mutual aid funds to my Venmo @ohhnohoney or my CashApp $ohhnohoney.
I love you all, and thank you!
