End-of-Life Support for Father of Four
Donation protected
Our strong, beautiful, generous, holy man of a father is at the end of his cancer battle. On January 15th, 2025, we received the devastating news that not only was the mass in his colon, cancer, he had already been stage 4 at that point with metastasis to his liver. After meetings with several doctors, we elected it would be best to proceed with surgery first instead of chemo as he was almost 100% obstructed at this point. On February 11th we went into surgery with the highest hopes. After 8.5 hours of surgery, the surgeon came out and said that things did not go as expected. There was more cancer found in his abdominal wall and a small part of his small intestine. In addition to taking over a foot of his colon, they removed his appendix, a piece of his abdominal wall, and part of his small intestine. Later that night, we fell into unthinkable complications that have forever altered his health since. This has left us unable to ever proceed with chemotherapy.
In the last weeks he began to rapidly decline but without knowing as to why. After many, many tests and three hospitals, we got the news no child ever wishes to hear. “The cancer is everywhere, there’s nothing else we can do.” This was said to a 51 year old father of four, youngest being just 13.
As of tonight (05-15-25), he is off every medical intervention that has kept him alive. It is all in God’s hands as to how quickly he wishes to take him. Likely only being a matter of hours, maybe a day at best.
We have struggled immensely since 2018 with Dave’s health. This has left him on disability which is a very limited income. We are left with the financial responsibility of giving him the service he deserves to lay him to rest. His greatest wish is to be buried with his father, his world. On top of the service, burial, and probable cremation costs, we also have to come out of pocket to get his home in a code-complying condition in order to sell. Even after the sale, we will likely still be in a negative financial state. If you wish to help ease the financial burden of this tragic and absolutely devastating event, please know that we, his children, (Grace, Angel, Bailey, Kyle, Breana, Shawn, Brendan, and Cathy-mom) all appreciate it so dearly that words will never be able to scratch the surface. If you are unable to financially help, a prayer for healing and a comfortable transfer to heaven for him is appreciated beyond words.
