NOTHING about this journey has been easy so thank you to the 161 donations, and to the friends and family who donated or lent money quickly to help me make this happen in such a short period of time.

I can finally say that after four years waiting that I have had surgery to treat severe and late diagnosed endometriosis and I am delighted, sore but delighted!

It is just a pity it took me to go this far although I would do it all over again in a heart beat tomorrow.

I had tried everything possible to work through the systems at home or to avail of the schemes currently set up yet none of them were working to link me with a team who could save my organs and my time.

I didn’t want to have surgery and I didn’t want to travel abroad for it yet my situation became so unmanageable and I am confident that I am not the only one struggling with this because in fact their are thousands of us.

I am vocal about it because this kind of situation needs to stop as it is far too common. I would hate to see another generation be fed so much misinformation about a disease that can do hellacious things to your body.

I never thought I would be so deep into this and that what I heard and saw happen to other women would ever happen to me because I believed I would fight it yet how can you when the medical world is so far behind on something this common?

This venture took a lot out of me both energetically and creatively because I had to think a little differently and find a way amid concern over one particular presentation of the disease that was causing serious alarm and adding a time sensitivity that I couldn’t ignore.

Now I need to concentrate on healing from surgery and then planning the return home.

I haven’t worked in almost a year. Despite all efforts I had to be careful about my choice of project giving my situation so that in itself made a dent in my surgery savings. I then lost my car worth 10k after having had it serviced. The next day it literally blew up so I was at a point of real exasperation.

The stress was enormous amid feeling so poorly so I made a decision to get to a specialist to map out where the disease was thinking I could just go back to the team in Europe yet they dropped my case.

I was then presented with a choice to stay and have surgery with some of the best surgeons in the world of endo or leave and start again at a cost of months in Europe.

Choosing to stay was made possible by all those who got behind me. If you can’t donate please share my story with a link.

With your donation I need to pay people back, I need to accommodate my convalescence here in Tijuana until I am ready to fly home and I need to get home.

Thank you sincerely

Cheryl
