DONATE TO FUND LARGE-SCALE ANTI-I.C.E. ICE SCULPTURE IN BOSTON COMMON ON NO KINGS DAY

My name is Kat Dressler, I'm a New England sculptor who specializes in making art come to life from wood and ice using chainsaws and other power tools. I was on a volunteer trip to Alaska to learn about large-scale ice carving, when I first saw the video of Alex Pretti being shot multiple times, fatally, while simply offering help to a woman who was pushed to the ground by I.C.E. agents. Seeing his murder, while literally actively working on an ice sculpture, drove me to design a creative resistance project that will help amplify the voice of millions of Americans: WE THE PEOPLE DO NOT SUPPORT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S OVERREACH — to include the mistreatment of our immigrants and their families, and the blatant execution of American citizens by I.C.E. agents.

My distaste in I.C.E. was long before watching Americans getting executed online. I believe that, as a nation, we can find a way to remove violent criminals, drug and sex traffickers, pedophiles, etc, without shooting Americans in the street, wrongfully detaining people, targeting innocent people for being brown, sending people to facilities like “Alligator Alcatraz” and other horrible detention centers, all in the name of "solving illegal immigration." We can protect our borders, AND not be evil to our fellow man. And if this is what we're being shown on camera, imagine the atrocities occurring that aren't being filmed.

Regardless of where one identifies on the intentionally divisive "Red" VS "Blue" political spectrum, seeing an American Citizen being executed in the street by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, with no opportunity for trial and no accountability, should be a hard-line for EVERY American.

On No Kings Day, March 28th, in Boston Common, 200,000+ people are expected to be in attendance--marching, demonstrating, and signing petitions against I.C.E. and the administration. Our "END I.C.E." Ice Sculpture will be a focal point to direct people to over 20 different organizations’ ACTION tables, where they can take immediate action against the administration.

The sculpture will be carved by me, utilizing chainsaws. It will be 24 feet long in length and 5 feet tall, reading “END I.C.E.”
At night, it will be lit Red, White, and Blue to represent authentic American patriotism.

The cost to create a large-scale ice sculpture is EXPENSIVE, especially in a high-traffic area. I need to pay for the costs of producing, transporting, and installing the ice for me to carve, bike barrier fencing so that we can be approved by the city, the cost of permits to be allowed to carve in the Common, and other miscellaneous expenses that all add up.

This is an entirely grassroots project that I am 100% self funding (no city grants, no payment to myself) so that we can actually get beyond the red tape and MAKE IT HAPPEN. I am using my own personal savings to ensure deposits are made to keep this project moving, but I can NOT fund it alone, I am RELYING on donations from like-minded people that believe in the sculpture's intentions, and want their voice heard through its installation. I have done everything in my power to keep project costs down while being able to execute the sculpture impactfully and successfully. Again, I am taking NO PERSONAL PAYMENT for designing and executing this ice sculpture with an estimated market value of 10-15k.

ALL EXPENSES FOR THE EXECUTION OF THE ICE SCULPTURE WILL BE LISTED AND UPDATED AS THE ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESS CONTINUES AND INVOICES/RECEIPTS COME IN. I AM IN COORDINATION AND DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE CITY OF BOSTON AND THE NO KINGS DAY EVENT, BUT I AM MY OWN PRIVATE ENTITY, AND EVERY INTENTION IS FOR THE SCULPTURE TO BE INSTALLED AS PLANNED. IF, FOR ANY LOGISTICAL REASON, SOMETHING CHANGES AND THE SCULPTURE CANNOT BE INSTALLED, EVERY DONATION WILL BE GIVEN BACK TO THE DONOR AS PER GOFUNDME POLICY.

IN THE CASE THAT THIS FUND RAISES MORE DONATIONS THAN NEEDED FOR THE PROJECT'S EXECUTION, ALL ADDITIONAL FUNDS WILL BE DONATED TO:

VERMONT ASYLUM ASSISTANCE PROJECT (VAAP)-- a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Legal Organization that represents people facing immigration detention and removal in Vermont, and connects Vermonters to trusted immigration legal resources.
You can read more about the impact VAAP makes on their website. www.vaapvt.org

The intentions of this project are not to divide this country further. I am a military veteran; I love my country, and especially the people I love that live here, and I want a better future for all of us. I hope that this project can give people an avenue to contribute to that vision. It's the People Vs the people in power, never ordinary Republican vs. ordinary Democrat, or however else they like to categorize us against each other so that we don't organize. By coming together under shared principles, we can demand a more just nation...As is the American way!

Please, if you agree with my message, consider making ANY donation (it all counts!) and SPREAD THE WORD BY SHARING THE GO FUND ME! WE ARE LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AWAY FROM THE EVENT, SO IT IS URGENT TO SHARE!

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! LET'S COME TOGETHER TO MAKE SOMETHING GOOD HAPPEN!
