Over the last month our beloved Ruger has been in and out of the vet office. Multiple X-rays, blood work and exams with what started as a diagnosis of a torn ACL has turned into the discovery that Ruger has a form of metastatic cancer. In the past couple of weeks he has grown more uncomfortable. He’s developed lameness in his front leg due to the growing nodules and we have to help him move around. Many of you have known and loved Ruger through the years of my time at home in Kodiak where he flew in as a 9 week old puppy, then as he moved down to San Diego with me. He’s been my soul mate and best friend. He has gotten me through the hardest days of my life. And now to the dreaded day that has come too soon where we need to say goodbye to him so he isn’t in pain any longer. The agonizing pain it’s causing me to just type this out is worse than I imaged it would be. My heart aches.
I’ve created this go fund me to help us be able to give Ruger a peaceful send off here at home where he is comfortable and to be able to cremate him so we can have him with us. As we are not able to bury him here in San Diego. Thank you so much for everyone’s love and support during this time. It truly is losing a family member.
