End of life expenses for Tom L’Estrange

Hi, my name is Kelly L’Estrange and I am Tom L’Estrange’s daughter. I am establishing a fund for any contributions you would like to make, in the way of paying towards my dad’s end of life expenses.

Tom had a fairly prolonged illness, starting with a stroke in 2013, followed by declining health and mobility, a second stroke in 2019 and a fall in 2020. I was doing as much as I could to help support him while living halfway across the states. However, once COVID travel restrictions allowed and I was able to, I went to Des Moines to retrieve him, packed up all of his belongings, and moved him in with me in my home in California. Since that time, he was continually declining. He fell and broke his shoulder in April of this year 2023. After that fall, the deterioration was quite rapid. He unfortunately developed pneumonia. On Friday June 2, 2023, he was rushed to the ER. He was transferred to critical care and then the ICU on Saturday. He passed away peacefully in the ICU on Wednesday June 7, 2023 at approximately 1:15am.

The medical expenses for this journey have been exorbitant. Insurance will cover some but not all.
