End of Life Expenses for Jorge Mario Cisneros

Donation protected

My name is Gema Cisneros and I’m writing on the behalf of my father, Jorge Mario Cisneros, who recently passed away at 1:25 am on Thursday, Nov. 5th, 2020.

My father was the most hard working, talented, and creative man I had ever met and the most dedicated provider and father I could’ve ever been blessed to have. My father’s life is hard to summarize into words, being that he was so vast with so many talents. They ranged from painting to cooking to poetry to billiards to gardening. His heart was vast like the ocean and he endowed art in everything he did because he was art. There aren’t words that could encompass him nor the life that he led.

He came to the US from Mexico at the age of 14 and had worked every day as a dishwasher at a casino to help his parents bring the rest of his family to this country safely and legally, while also finishing high school and working towards his own dreams. After leaving home and dabbling in a multitude of career paths, from carpentry to construction to lumber milling, my father finally refound his home in the kitchen where he stayed. He was the first ever Latinx to become the executive chef of the Hollywood Bowl and the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, where they still use his menus to this day. After a series of injuries and life changing events, Jorge moved his family across the States to the east coast to help his parents with their home style Mexican restaurant where he worked ceaselessly at for the next 15 years. My father’s dedication and loyalty to his family had always steered every decision he made and he lovingly devoted all his time and energy into the restaurant to provide for his parents, his wife, and his children. My father was not perfect, but he spent every day of his life trying to provide the best life he could for his family. Despite his constant efforts, my father was met with many struggles that he often felt he could not overcome. He struggled greatly his whole life with his mental health and finding healthy ways to cope, and he unfortunately lost his life to late stage liver cirrhosis due to this.

My father was loved deeply by his family and his community, and his passing has left a huge hole in our lives. There will not be a day that he won’t be missed and that we won’t be thinking of him. I am creating this gofundme to try and help with my father’s end of life expenses, which include his cremation service and memorial. I cannot begin to express the pain that fills my being to know that I cannot pay to get my father cremated on my own, and that the same thing that had caused the most stress to my father in his life is still causing us so much stress now that he has passed. I wish I did not need money to do what it is right by him, but I know that I do and I am sincerely asking for help in the most difficult time period that I, or anyone in my family, has ever experienced. If you could even donate a penny, it would help greatly and I, and my family, would be eternally grateful and indebted to you.

My father had a beautiful soul and I just want to honor him in the way he deserves.
