Hello everyone, thank you all greatly for opening our campaign. We appreciate the thoughtful consideration, as we know this is quite the precarious time for many families.
Unfortunately, my father has had an unprecedented health problem that has declined rapidly within the last few weeks. What started as a UTI has progressed into what the doctors now believe to be a tumor malignancy (either lymphoma or giloblastoma, they're unable to identify a specific diagnosis) of the brain. He is unable to walk, talk, respond to any external stimuli, and is currently receiving essential medicine and nutrition through a sustenance tube down his nose. After numerous MRI's and about a week and a half of anti-inflammatory medication, both the medical doctor, neurologist, and oncologist have given a bleak prognosis of days/weeks left of his life.
Myself (Janan Kerry) and my brother (Alex Kerry) have traveled by car from Houston to Los Angeles to tend to his needs; asses his financial situation, pay out various bills/payments, collect things from storage, and say our final goodbyes to our baba. In addition to this being an incredibly emotional time for us, navigating travel and figuring out how to get everything we need to get done, done has been difficult (to say the least) as a result of COVID-19.
Our father is reaching the end of his life, and we are scrambling to pick up the pieces. Having suffered from homelessness for the last month and a half, many of his already high-interest bills have collected late fees. Both mine and my brothers paychecks have been drastically reduced due to our unprecedented time off, making paying these bills, while also buying things like food and gas unsustainable.
Despite these financial and social limitations, we know that getting to help our father in his time of need was the right decision. In order to accomplish everything we need to, however, we do need a little help from our friends and family. Absolutely any assistance would be greatly appreciated, even sharing this campaign, so we can continue to pay our bills while supporting our father and taking care of his needs.
Thank you, stay well and safe to you and your family. <3
