On Friday morning my mom’s heart stopped. CPR was administered at the rehabilitation facility she had been staying at to receive round the clock care but they were unable to revive her and she lost her battle with heart failure.

My mom was able to stay clean and sober for the last four years of her life. During this time we were able to reconnect and repair our relationship. She consistently saw her therapist and even homeschooled my younger cousins, her nieces. I am so proud of the work she put in to get and remain stable.

Unfortunately, due to her poor health she was denied life insurance and the family has to cover her end of life expenses. We are hoping to raise money to cover her cremation, the costs of her storage units to allow some time for grief before sorting through her belongings, and as everyone who knew my mom knows her dogs meant the world to her, so we want to ensure they get what they need while we work on finding them their new forever homes.

Due to my own health issues I do not have PTO left and I will need to take time off of work to make her arrangements and grieve. I know money is tight for everyone.
