End Of Life Care for Laura Cluney

Hello, I'm Nea Arthur, housemate of Laura and Jerry Cluney for five years.

Laura has been battling Alzheimer's disease almost since when we first met, and over the years her condition has slowly worsened. We've been doing our best to take care of her throughout this time, but recently her condition severely degraded - she can barely walk, and has had a lot of communication issues (including understanding what people are saying and responding). When we got an in-home nurse to come and check her vitals, we realized she required immediate hospitalization. From the hospital, we've learned that she's not going to recover.

The doctors projected that Laura has 6 to 12 months to live and recommended hospice care.

We can't take care of her at home anymore, as we don't have the resources. At the same time, a nursing home is far outside our grasp - the nursing home is asking for $1,600 a month to provide for her care. In addition, we have $2,500 in medical bills from the ambulance trip, hospital stay, and the initial cost of admission.
