End of Life Care & Final Expenses for "Wild Bill"
Donation protected
Funds will go to my stepmom, Janice Bouchard, who is my dad's primary caretaker right now, supported by the home hospice team.
My dad, William "Wild Bill" Bouchard is near the end of his life, in home hospice, with advanced pancreatic cancer and lung cancer. I'm so grateful that my wonderful stepmom is there with him, but they are on an extremely limited income and they need more support. Jan is still recovering from a heart attack and is not able to provide the kind of care he needs by herself. They need additional professional care for my dad as he has lost most of his mobility. They need basic cost of living support as their resources are quite strained. And they will need support for final expenses.
My dad is an extraordinary person. An illustrator, writer, and musician, he taught me the importance of making time to be creative - something that has probably saved my life more than once. My dad also taught me to love books and movies and inspired my career in the film exhibition industry. As an alcoholic in recovery, my dad modeled accountability for me in a powerful way, and showed me how it is never too late to grow and change your life, and that no matter how difficult it may be, you will always have a better outcome when you take responsibility for your own behavior - what an indispensable lesson.
My dad is a Vietnam vet who worked on a loading dock when I was a child, and later in a bookstore. He never made much money, but he always showed me unconditional love, and I always knew he was proud of me. I'm so lucky to be his daughter - and it's just impossible to say goodbye. But it's almost time.
I am helping my dad and Jan as much as I can, but working in a nonprofit Cinema, my income is also limited. Please consider making a gift to help Jan with my dad's end-of-life care, their ability to eat and keep the lights on during this difficult time, and for final expenses.
Thank you.
