End of Life & Memorial for Lonnie

Donation protected

Lonnie had for the last 15 years or more an illness that left her disabled. She was on a fixed income and left no assets for her daughter.    After being homeless for several years and living at Sophia's place, a temporary shelter for women, she dedicated herself to helping others in any way she could.  She opened her home to other women while they were waiting for a room or apartment, she donated her time to Sophia's before her illness kept her from doing so.  She donated clothes and was a great resource person full of leads and ideas to help others get back on their feet.

After waiting many years for surgery and almost 6 months in the hospital/rehab prior to surgery in May of this year, she finally got the surgery she had needed for up to 10 years.

Prior to the surgery because of being bedridden for 6 months, Lonnie developed several blood clots,  she was put on medication so she could still have the surgery.  After the surgery she went into septic shock and was in the ICU  before being sent to a rehab facility for another month of recovery and was being monitored for the blood clots.

When Lonnie was released in early July and was working hard on recovery she was given notice by Social Security that she was overpaid, therefore they would be deducting from her already small amount of income.

Although this was emotionaly and finacially a burden, Lonnie never let it bring her down.  She continued with her bright and cheery disposition and greeted everyone with a smile and was a spark of joy to all that knew her.

Lonnie died suddenly in the early morning hours of October 18, 2018. Her daughter Pesha needs help financially to pay for the end of life costs.   The cremation alone cost 695.00, along with the King County Medical Examiner fee is $70.00 plus the required Death Certificates that are $20.0 each.

The other expenses are for the cost of moving all of Lonnie's belongs from her apartment and storage costs.  Plus we are hoping for some help with the Memorial costs which will include a location fee,  funeral order of service brochures,  a bouquet of flowers, a video/CD projector with stereo (to rent) and coffee, tea and cookies.    The cost of obituary's are really expensive too.

Keeping in mind the go fund me page is a for profit company and will require up to 8 - 9 percent of the amount collected.

Any help anyone can give, even $1.00 (one dollar) is deeply appreciated.    Lonnie would be so grateful that Pesha, her beloved daughter would not have to carry this burden alone.
