ENCORE Academy Post Hurricane Aid Needed
Hi, my name is Terri Smith and I am the founder of ENCORE Academy, an arts-focused charter school in New Orleans serving 550 students. Ida has taken it's toll on our ENCORE Family. Whether evacuated to another location or stuck in New Orleans, everyone is struggling greatly. It is 90+ degrees in New Orleans and the surrounding area. There is no power and there are water issues in many areas as well. Lines for gas are few with a wait of hours. This is a humanitarian issue. We have families with no power, no generator, and no food sleeping on porches in an attempt to escape the heat. Many have roofs that have been damaged. Many of those who did manage to evacuate are out of funds and have no choice but to return to the City.
When school is in operation, ENCORE serves 3 meals each day to our students, as most are economically disadvantaged. I am asking you to please find it in your hearts and in your bank accounts to make a donation. Our staff, many who have remained in New Orleans, are ready to help our families who are struggling, but we need financial support.
Please share this appeal with everyone you know as every donation large or small will help. I thank you in advance for your generosity and pledge that these funds will reach our families in need.
