ENCINITAS STUDENT SHORT FILM

Hello!

My name is Mallory Oien, and I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of San Dieguito Academy's Film Club. For the past few months, we have been working hard to create a script for a short film (roughly 25 minutes) set in San Diego's haunted Elfin Forest. We are going into production over Spring Break, and because we want this to be the best production we can, we are looking to raise some funds to help purchase/refund the purchases we have made for various lighting and film equipment. Below is a bit more in-depth about the project...

"In 1872, a mother lost her children to the depths of Spooks Canyon inside San Diego’s infamous Elfin Forest. The woman went mad searching for them and in her despair, ultimately committed suicide. After her death, increased suspicious and haunted activity occurred in the forest, which continues today. Many of these sightings report a distressed woman in white, leading to its locally accepted title: “The Lady in White.” In our film, we combine parts of San Diego's occult past with the history of the Mazdaznan’s Cult relocation to Encinitas, weaving a story in which they are keepers of the Lady in White, who perform a semicentennial blood sacrifice to keep her demonic hunger at bay. Our film works to celebrate both the various waves of cult movements in American history and the tales specific to our beloved San Diego while also reflecting certain aspects of the rise in conspiracy and cult culture in our present day."
