Enabled Africa: Hair for Wheels

Hi, we are Joshua and Bisi (17-year-old young man living with cerebral palsy. I am currently at college studying to become a Gym instructor. I love creating content for social media especially TikTok videos.) (I am a proud mum of two amazing teenage children. A Telecoms Engineer by weekday and an entrepreneur at all other times, running my own tutoring services for 11+ Maths. Having a special needs child has helped shape and define who I am. I am very passionate about executing my God-given purpose.)

Imagine you see a child walking on the street without shoes, completely bare feet. Now imagine offering your adult sized shoes to the child out of the kindness of your heart.
Ask yourself: “Have I solved the problem the child has? Have I made an impact or added more complications?
Too often in Africa, we see children being given wheelchairs which are not the right size or fit for them.

A growing child will change their shoes constantly, especially from the age of about 3 to 17 to fit their ever-expanding feet. Likewise, we have lost count of how many wheelchairs Joshua has had over the years. Joshua has always been fortunate enough to have a wheelchair and standing frame that fit him perfectly at every stage of his life.
One thing is certain, having the right wheelchair has been a defining factor in Joshua’s independent life.
How many children in Nigeria and the rest of Africa are privileged to use a wheelchair or standing frame yet alone one which is the right fit for them?

On Saturday, the 28th of May 2022, our foundation, Enabled Africa, plans to live stream the shaving of Bisi's hair to raise awareness of this cause as well as raise money to buy Child-friendly wheelchairs and standing frames.
We aim to raise £10,000 to help buy 10 wheelchairs (£4,000) and 60 Standing frames (£6,000), which will be made available to children from less privileged backgrounds in Nigeria.
All proceeds from the fundraising event will be given to "Anthony Kupe"  https://instagram.com/kupe9ja?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= & "Nikky Layoe Angel4Life" Foundations to buy and distribute the wheelchairs and standing frames.
