UPDATE from Brad: We are overwhelmed by everyone's support and well-taken care of. We are well-fed, clothed, housed, and have temporary housing for the short term. Insurance looks like it will meet our needs to remain in our neighborhood... it is our sincere hope to stay here long term. Anyway, the urgency is gone from this fundraiser and I will make sure to update here if that changes. Thank you to all who have expressed support and/or gave or prayed for us. We praise Jesus Christ to the highest and seek an even closer walk with the Lord. It's strange and life-changing to feel so much joy and so little grief in the shadow of so much loss! Chris Mohlke's original post: Meet Brad and Lisa Franklin and their five children. They are both teachers. Brad works at Grandview High School. Lisa also teaches school. They are very close friends of mine and of the IHOP-KC community and have lost their home in a fire along with all of their belongings. This house will have to be completely demoed and rebuilt from scratch. The Lord did save one filing cabinet that had their important paperwork. And somehow their van which was in the garage was untouched. Fireman said that everything in the home was a total loss. I have known these people personally for many years. Some years ago this family took me in this very home and gave my son and I their home to live in when we had nothing to even give in return. They are looking for an immediate place to rent. THE CITY HAS PLANS TO AND HAS ALREADY APPROVED THIS HOME TO BE COMPLETELY DEMOLISHED SOON DUE TO THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY AND HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARDS. They plan on rebuilding a new home in its place. Any help would be much appreciated.
