Help Ali Keep Her Sight

This is my best friend, my partner in crime, and woman who keeps me in line: Alisha Willis.

You all know her as Ali, and know her as a silent guardian of our circle of friends. Recently Ali had an incident happen that detached her retina in her left eye. For almost a year, she has been undergoing surgeries to repair said damage, however maybe 15% of her original vision has returned.

Last week, she was going under a routine check up. When the doctor checked her good eye, he noticed a gas pocket that is threatening to take her sight from her completely. He recommended immediate surgery to try to rectify this, however there's a catch:

She has to be almost fully immobilized for 13 weeks. 23 hours a day, face down. Restricted and unable to work, this is not only going to completely change her life, this is going to drive her insane. If you know her at all, she's not a "lazy body."

Over the past two years we, as a group, have been through multiple traumatic experiences, the loss of friends, and the loss of her father. Through all of it, she never complained, and gave every last bit of energy she had to make sure our friends were taken care of, and everything went as smooth as possible.

Even after her father died, she gave and gave, and never asked for anything in return. She has always looked out for us, and now I'm asking that we do the same in return.

After the past few months of surgeries, her finances have been tapped. And now she looks forward and the road will be tough. I've set the goal at $10K because that's roughly what it will cost for the surgery alone. This doesn't take into account bills and day to day expenses.

I, realistically, don't expect to hit the goal because I know we all have struggles and times are tough. But every little bit helps. This is not only going to take away her mobility over the 13 weeks after the surgery, but also her entire holiday season. Something she loves immensely.

If you can donate, that's great. If you can't, please spread the word. She's going to kill me just for making this as it is. But... Hopefully she'll see just how much she is loved in this community.

As she goes through this, I'll continue to post updates on her condition, progress and overall demeanor.

I had another ten pages planned out in my head, but I think this about sums it up. So I'll just close with "Thank you."
