En memoria de Diana Fonseca
Un día del pasado mes de abril, y no precisamente a causa del COVID-19, falleció Diana. Al parecer alguien inmisericorde y en circunstancias aún desconocidas, acabó con su vida; vida de una persona soñadora y con grandes virtudes, también hija, hermana y amiga de muchos. En su vida tuvo satisfacciones y muchos obstáculos como consecuencia de su decisión alguna vez de querer experimentar nuevas sensaciones, de las cuales quedó atada para siempre, sin nunca lograr romper esas cadenas, las adicciones, a pesar de todos sus esfuerzos, los de sus padres, el amor incondicional que le dieron siempre y su incansable trabajo para brindarle ayuda profesional. Para ellos tenemos nada menos que profunda admiración porque entregaron mas de lo humanamente posible por rescatar a su hija.
Esta situación tuvo un efecto devastador para la familia en muchos aspectos; fueron al menos 16 años de una lucha constante en contra de un despiadado monstruo, las drogas, que se apoderó de su vulnerabilidad y le causó mucho daño físico, emocional y mental, mientras a su paso sumía a la familia en un ciclo de fracasos y tristezas. Esta situación terminó afectando la estabilidad emocional y económica de sus padres e inclusive su salud, incluyendo los dos infartos que sufrió su madre, Cristina, quien luchó sin cesar desde que la recogió en un hospital psiquiátrico en España para traerla de vuelta a Colombia a finales del 2007. Apenas unos años atrás, después de graduarse del CCEE Reyes Católicos en Bogotá, su niña había salido de casa con la ilusión de estudiar y cumplir sus sueños en la Universidad de Salamanca, fue una mente brillante, ahora no parecía ser ni la sombra de lo que fue, como si la hubieran cambiado, estaba enferma. Entonces comenzó el doloroso camino que cambiaria sus vidas para siempre. Hoy Edgar, su padre, después de haber entregado todo y acompañar a su hija hasta el ultimo momento, con el alma arrugada, lleno de recuerdos y vivencias que pocos podriamos siquiera imaginar, lo único que espera es aprovechar las fuerzas que aún le quedan para empezar de cero, pues ha perdido todo.
Quienes hemos tenido la fortuna de conocer a la familia Fonseca Posse por años, sabemos en qué hogar creció Diana y cuanto amor había en su corazón para entregar al mundo entero, en especial a Edgar y a Mariacris, como le decía a su mamá. Es por esto, y en honor a su memoria, que iniciamos una campaña de solidaridad con su familia, buscando aunar esfuerzos con un aporte voluntario que le ayude a su padre a iniciar un nuevo proyecto de vida: hacer una pequeña granja como medio de sustento y, porque no, recoger sus memorias y escribir un libro para compartir su historia con otras familias, a quienes les pueda ser útil en algún momento de la vida.
Seguiremos recordando a Diana con cariño por lo que fue y por lo que dejó en cada uno de nosotros; porque a pesar de todo lo que vivió, su corazón nunca cambió.
Descansa Diana, volveremos a encontrarnos.

In memoriam Diana Fonseca
A few days ago in April, and not precisely from COVID-19, Diana passed away. Apparently, someone unmerciful and in circumstances that are yet to be determined ended her life; the life of a person full of dreams and virtues, also daughter, sister and friend of many. Throughout her life she had many satisfactions and faced a lot of obstacles due to the decision she once made to experience new things, which she ended up tied to forever without ever being able to break those chains, addictions, despite all of her efforts, her parents’, the unconditional love they always gave her and their relentless work to provide her with professional help. For them, we have nothing short of deep admiration, because they gave it far beyond what’s humanly possible to rescue their daughter.
This situation had a devastating effect for the family on many levels; it was at least 16 years of constantly battling a merciless monster, a drug addiction, that seized her vulnerability and caused her a great deal of physical, emotional and mental damage, while plunging the family in a cycle of failures and sadness. It ended up affecting the emotional and financial stability of her parents, and even their health, including the two heart attacks her mother, Cristina, suffered during this journey. She fought unceasingly from the day she picked her up at a psychiatric hospital in Spain to bring her back to Colombia at the end of 2007. Just a few years ago, after graduating from CCEE Reyes Católicos in Bogotá, her girl had left home full of hope, with the desire to study and pursuit her goals at the University of Salamanca, she was brilliant, now she wasn’t anything like it, she’d been changed, she was sick. This was just the beginning of a painful journey that would change their lives forever. Today her father, Edgar, after having given it his all and stayed by his daughter’s side until the last minute, with great sadness, full of memories and experiences that few could even imagine, only hopes to use any strength he has left to start from scratch; he has lost everything.
Those of us who’ve had the privilege of knowing the Fonseca Posse family for years, know the kind of home she grew up in and how much love she had in her heart to give out to the entire world, especially to Edgar and Mariacris, as she called her mother. For this reason and in her memory, we started a campaign of solidarity with her family, hoping to join efforts with a voluntary contribution to help her father start a new life project: build a small farm as his livelihood and, perhaps, put together a memoir and write a book to share his story with other families, to whom it may be valuable at some point in their life.
We will continue to remember Diana dearly for the person she was and what she left in each one of us; because in spite of everything she went through, her heart never changed.
Get some rest Diana, we will meet again.
