Help Charlie and his family in an urgent life situation!
We want to help our dear big brother Charlie and his family. Sometimes life takes unexpected turns, and now they may need help in a difficult situation. They have had to make a major decision to leave the USA, where they have lived for the past five years, and move back to Norway so that Charlie can get the healthcare he desperately needs. With this fundraiser, we hope they can get some help to re-establish themselves here while the house and belongings are being put up for sale in Ohio. They are also currently without work in Norway, and it is not easy to find a job at this time.
What is the situation?
Charlie has experienced several acute situations over the past few years where he has developed blood clots. As most people can understand, this is potentially life-threatening and needs to be treated.
Charlie had his first blood clot in 2022 when he had COVID. Fortunately, it went well with quick treatment. After six months on blood-thinning medication, the doctor stopped the treatment. But after a couple of months, symptoms of blood clots reappeared. At the hospital, they found a large number of clots in his leg. After surgery, he was again put on blood thinners, this time for ongoing treatment. A year later, the symptoms suddenly returned, and new clots were found despite him taking medication to prevent this. He was given a new type of medicine, but half a year later, in May this year, the same thing happened again. Once again, the medication was changed, but in July, new clots were detected once again.
This is a situation that is extremely challenging for both Age and Charlie. Unlike Norway, there are limited possibilities in the USA to adapt life according to one’s health situation. It is not an exaggeration to say that Charlie’s daily life has been more about providing for his family than taking care of his own health.
The healthcare system in the USA is probably one of the best in the world if you have the best insurance or a lot of money. However, if you do not, the options for further investigation and the best help are limited. Charlie has not received further investigation to find a possible cause for his health problems. When blood-thinning medication does not have the expected effect, the situation becomes quite distressing.
Age and Charlie traveled to Norway for a vacation this summer. While in Norway, Charlie again had symptoms and was admitted to the hospital twice.
Returning to the USA would be both extremely risky and mean that daily life would continue as before, with great uncertainty and little help. Age and Charlie therefore decided to follow medical advice and stay in Norway. Here, Charlie receives the healthcare he needs, but beyond that, they are starting from scratch. Without a home, work, or good health, it is a difficult situation. We are therefore incredibly grateful to everyone who wants to contribute so that we can ease the burden for them in this difficult situation. Thank you so much! ❤️
