En/縁: Butoh Theatre Show about Environment

Donation protected
We are raising money for our upcoming production, En/縁 ! (New Butoh & Physical Theatre piece) . This is the world premier of the full production. We are excited and have started rehearsals and creative process with great passion. It is always a great pleasure delving into the experience of creating a new piece. We would love to reward everyone on the team with what their hard work is worth, and at the same time, elevate the production with providing our designers with resources they need. This Fund will be used for our production budgets such as costume building costs, set installation material and labor , PR Fee, space rental fee and designers & Performers' stipend.  The run of En/縁 is in Sep. 13-15, and we need to raise this money by the end of the run on Sep. 15.

Project Description:
We encounter quite a few deep connections throughout our lives, intentionally and unintentionally. Some connections are brief, while others last a lifetime. This is called En/縁 in Japanese. En/縁 can be both positive and negative and can grow into a relationship. We can create En /縁 with people, locations, objects, and all living beings. When we feel such connections, what will we do? Our production, En explores the relationship between Nature and all living beings through Butoh dance and Physical Theatre. It explores whether human beings are capable of creating a relationship with something we’ve so often taken for granted and so carelessly contaminated - the Ocean and Sea Creatures who inhabit it. Is it possible to build bridges instead of burning them? Can we truly care for one another?

Funding History:
In January, we received a grant for this project from Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) which encouraged us to continue this production and share it with the community. The grant from BAC will cover a part of our production cost but not all. So we are seeking support from our own community and any people who might be interested in seeing meaningful work come to life.

Fundraiser:
We are also hosting a fundraiser on August 24th at Grace & St. Paul's Church. We welcome you, your family, your friend, and anyone who might be interested in sharing an afternoon of fun games, interactive performances, and conversations on environmental justice to come join us! RSVP to [email redacted]. We look forward to hearing from you!

Each and every donation, small or big, means a lot to us. We are very passionate about this topic/environmental issue and your donations encourage us to continue with what we do. Your support creates our work. We carry your support onto the stage and to the world. Your $5-$10-$20-$100-$1000- or more or less will be a spirit of our show and help us to share this story.

We are so thankful that you are reading this, considering to support, and donating or spreading the words out about this project. Your support is a gift. And we would like to express our appreciation in advance.

Thank you very much for your love & Support!
