Help me become debt free
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mohamed and I am here to ask you to help me clear my debts as soon as possible. It has been very hard trying to survive with a single paycheck in the current cost of living crisis, taking me on a constant journey deeper into the debts. With most of this debt having interest added onto.
Just paying the minimum payments every month has not been viable as the interest added reduces the effect of the payments made.
I want to turn my life around and be debt free. For this, I am not able to do it on my own. So I am turning to you for help. Even if it is just £1 you can give me, it would be of a great help.
I know many of you may be skeptical about this. So here is a little more detail about my situation and why I am reaching out.
I come from a from a family where my father has a broken back and has difficulties walking. We used to be receiving benefits but since 2017 they have stopped giving benefits. I was 16 at the time. I had to get a job but because of education I was only able to get a part time job. Since I turned 18, I was in a habit of using credit cards.
I’ve paid majority of it off before finishing uni. So it didn’t seem an issue. But then I got married, and my wife’s parents are not in the best of conditions so I had to leave Coventry and move to London. This was when the issues began in me getting myself spiralled in debt.
Travel to work in a month costs £170, groceries costs £300, rent £950, fuel price is ridiculous. My other expenses as well was much higher than back in Coventry. Left me with literally pennies worth in the bank after paying just minimum payments.
Things got bad, and you know how interest is, it adds up and adds up and I’ve taken out debt consolidation loans to cover the debt with high interest rates but then have been struggling repaying the loan too.
As things got bad, my mental health wasn’t the best. I messed up on an exam and was terminated my grad scheme contract. The job markets not been the best and I was unemployed for a couple of months.
I ended up going into a debt management plan. And that was the screenshot I’ve shared on the gofund me site. Although it is of help to reduce my monthly minimum payments from £875 to £251, the change of jobs where I’m getting paid barely to cover my basic expenses is hard to bear.
This plan takes roughly 80 months to clear the debt and there’s a lot of restrictions and it’s affecting my marital life as well. This is why I’m seeking out for help.
The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever relieves a Muslim of distress, Allah will relieve him of distress on the Day of Resurrection. He has also said in another Hadith: "Whoever grants relief to a debtor or absolves his debt, he will be in the shade,"
May Allah bless you with whatever little you can contribute to this.
