Those that know me know I've been struggling a lot for the last year. No one likes to have to ask for help repeatedly, but I have one shot to escape the situation I'm currently stuck in, and it requires me to buy a plane ticket next month.
My name is Isa. I'm disabled, queer, and earlier this year I lost my apartment. Now I'm stuck back with my abusive family, counting the days until I get thrown out once again. I COULD have a safe home with a friend, but she lives very far away, so it all comes down to whether or not I can scrape together the money to get there.
I have twice been homeless in the past, and I can accomplish nothing while I'm here, because my family will routinely steal money from me, force me out, turn violent, and have even killed pets in the past. They deny my disabilities are real. They will not accept me.
Worse, we live in a town where there is very little work. I have been searching desperately, I have signed up with seven different job agencies, I even scour Craigslist for odd jobs. Right now my only income is through freelance transcript work and it is not enough to fund a move. The payments per job aren't set but they average far less than minimum wage.
To make this trip would mean a safe roof for me and my cat. It would be in a town where I could go to college, in a place where the health care is a little less stringent, which is important for me. I would be living with my best friend of 5+ years, who is familiar with and understanding of my needs.
Conversely, to stay here, it is literally only a matter of time until I'm thrown out again. All it takes is for my mother to be in a bad enough mood, and I'm homeless again. Please help me get out before that happens.
I'm hoping to cover the cost of the ticket, replace things like my litter box that I can't take with me, and pay for food and transport for the first month there.
