'emus' is 'exploratory music sydney'
We are a small collective of musicians aiming to promote exploratory, improvised and experimental music and sound-related events happening in Sydney and its surrounds.
Our volunteers:
- update the website emus.space
- send a semi-regular mailout 'emus enews' (717 subscribers)
- share exploratory music events via social media
- occasionally host events
- run a radio show 'Listening Space' on Eastside Radio 89.7FM.
Since our inception in 2017 we have mostly relied on money out of the pockets of our volunteers, plus some donations from fundraising events to keep emus.space online.
We are running a very simple fundraiser to contribute towards running costs for the next 3 years.
Our annual costs are around $225 (hosting & domain). With this humble fundraiser we hope to:
- Fund 3 more years of emus.space ($675)
- Recoup some retrospective out-of-pocket web expenses since 2020 ($550)
With any surplus donations we would:
- Invest in improving our website design and event input system
- Fund future events (venue hire / artist fees / fundraising for future costs)
- Make some emus merch to sell for future income/marketing...
