The Nicola Woo Memorial Walk
Donation protected
On Tuesday 16th July 2024 Parrenthorn staff and pupils will complete The Nicola Woo memorial walk in Heaton Park. Parrenthorn High School was a huge part of Nicola’s life. She attended as a pupil and due to her work ethic and contribution to school life was made Head Girl throughout Year 11. She qualified as a Geography teacher at Newcastle University and gained experience in a number of schools before returning to Parrenthorn as Head of Geography. Nicola’s career then progressed further, she was appointed as Head of Year, SENDCo and Deputy Head Teacher. Nicola was hugely respected and admired by pupils and staff alike. Her dedication and commitment was exceptional, she was an amazing asset to our school.
Nicola was a great believer in living life to the full and embracing every opportunity that came her way, she loved any opportunity to bring people together. Furthermore, she had a gift for seeing the potential in others and encouraging them to be the best they could possibly be; by following their dreams, taking chances and offering her never ending support along the way. Her door was always open, she would never turn anyone away, no matter how busy she was.
Above all, Nicola was passionate that all children should have the same opportunities. She was a great advocate for our vulnerable pupils and would find a way to make good things happen for them, breaking down barriers along the way. This summer we will all be honoured to walk in her memory, and any money raised will be put towards carrying on her legacy. The funds raised will go towards funding resources to help improve the mental health of all pupils but particularly some of our most vulnerable young people.
