The time has come – I am scheduled for Top Surgery! For years, I’ve been preparing my body, heart, and mind for this opportunity to align my inner and outer non-binary embodiments. I am excited and fortunate to make this move, and I certainly could not do it without the support of my loved ones and community. Thank you for being with me.

As I prepare for my April 11, 2024 surgery date, I am also in the process of exiting my decade-long tenure at Visual Thinking Strategies. I am proud of what I have contributed to VTS; I am inspired by the team I have built and the culture I have been able to shift through responsive listening and a commitment to authenticity. This departure from work I have long been devoted to – and the absolute burnout of it – will provide me the time and space to recover from surgery and set a new path professionally.

This is a long-awaited, desperately-needed sabbatical… and one that comes without a paycheck. Even with insurance coverage, there will be out-of-pocket expenses for the surgery. Additionally, while I will receive unemployment benefits to cover my rent, I will need help paying other monthly bills until I get a new job and can return to work.

One of the ways I hope my community might support me at this moment is financially. I am asking for support for about two months of living expenses + incidentals from surgery. If you are in a position to share funds of any amount towards my recovery/time off, it would greatly impact my sense of ease. Please also share this request with your networks, if that feels possible for you!
