Em’s August Arsenic Attack Recovery

Hi, my name is Emily & I am working through the recovery stages both financially & physically from a targeted event on 8/24/23 towards me & my car. The escalation of what led to this last event was when I approached a man leaving a vacant house on my block this last summer, where he was running drug & possibly human trafficking, asking him & his group to leave. Since then, my car has been a target; hit and run while parked 2x, 1 tire slash, & 3 extensive car keyings, with the latest event on 8/24/23 also including Liquid Mercury being poured onto my car and it’s internal parts. The Hazmat team was quick to respond after calling 911, and contained what they could of the area. The next day the EPA & DEQ teams arrived to start what would be a 4 day decontamination job. Unfortunately my car did not make the cut of being usable & I am working through the details of that with insurance and my loan company. All that said, I am in a place where I need to ask for help, & thank you all in advance for even reading this. I am a single woman owned small business & this has impacted my ability to work at times during this, have had to rent a car out of pocket, need to buy another car & I am investing in more locks, protective means as there has been little to no local law enforcement or media support. I am not planning to stay silent on this & am scheduled to speak at City Council in October in the hopes to get more ears and eyes on this case. Thank you to everyone that has already shown support in various ways, I am eternally grateful & I do want to again thank the Hazmat, EPA & DEQ teams for their quick response & hard work to help me & the surrounding neighborhood to decontaminate.
