EMPTY NESTERS NEW ADVENTURE
Donation protected
Hello, we are Greg and Cyndi Bryant and this platform is quite a bit out of our comfort zone. Our preference would be to keep things quiet (and not bear the awkwardness we feel), but pride goeth before the fall, and as to that, it’s worth a try.
This past fall we decided to make a drastic change in our lives and move cross-country. With our last child out of college and making her own way in the world in her dream career, our job was well done after raising five well-rounded children to successful adulthood. It was time for us.
We had no idea pulling up roots to follow our dreams would be so emotionally intimidating, and doing so without much familial support (because they would miss us, they didn’t understand) was heartbreaking but we pushed on and started planning a full-blown “life-reinvention” in a new city. Cleveland, Ohio! Cyn had never lived with four seasons, and since that’s what she wanted to do, Cleveland being Greg’s hometown, and having left 35 years prior, the decision was made.
With two sets of luggage, our camera, laptops and a little bit of money we set out to embrace our new adventure. The trip cross-country was amazing with fun memorable stops seeing our country along Route 66 and visiting with family and friends who had made the jump. The feeling was so freeing we had no doubt this move was right.
As excited as we were, we were blindsided by Cyndi’s extreme homesickness. It was heart wrenching. But there have been bright spots since we’ve arrived, getting to know our new city and exploring has been a blast.
This first month here has been pretty challenging, the jobs we had lined up before we left fell through, and we still had to secure housing. We expected it to be different but not overly tough. Always looking at the bright side, we pushed through the tears and shored up our “stick-to-it-ness” and got busy. Ever the optimists, and committed to this adventure, we feel strongly that this next step in our life's journey is right and we’re STILL very excited.
We’ve found new jobs and just recently received approval for a really nice place to live. However, we’ve hit a financial snag with the housing situation and need a bit of assistance to plant our feet in our new hometown. In a final attempt to settle in and move forward, we've chosen to appeal to friends and family. Whatever can be donated will be greatly appreciated. You will have our profound thanks for even a single dollar.
The money requested is specifically for us to secure our living accommodations here in Cleveland. That’s it in nutshell. Hitting this goal, within the next week, will lock down the place we’ve found and we can finally get the keys and have a place to call our own. If not, then we lose the place and fall behind a bit more and will move into the realm of over-staying our welcome with extended family we barely know.
Asking for help is a widespread fear, so I’m sure you understand that it’s hard for us to ask, but we are here asking for exactly that, a little help!
Thank you all in advance for taking the time to hear us out.
And again, thank you, most sincerely,
Greg and Cyndi B :-)
