Hi! Our names are Olivia and Jacinta. We are uprising seniors with big aspirations. Coming from a multicultural background has taught us to appreciate the life we live as well as the cultures of the world. This background however has also shown us a harsh reality of the world we live in-- the education gap. So we thought to ourselves, how can we make a change to equalize this unjust reality? Thus we founded EmpowerMENTES, meaning to empower minds. What better place to start than Jacinta's hometown, Chile?

For ten days we will assist La Escuela Rural Lago Azul in teaching its students English which is the lingua franca of the world. When international students are equipped with proficient English skills, their chances at moving up in the workforce skyrockets. This Pre-K through sixth grade school only has 3 teachers and our help will help them tremendously. They are also in need of school supplies as the low income community has very limited supplies.
