Empowering Youth Through the Sport of Squash

What is Squash on Track

Squash on Track is a program for underserved youth in our community which uses squash as a vehicle to teach life skills such as hard work, dedication and focus that will translate to success in academics and life.  Three days a week, the kids come to our squash center where they play squash and study. The squash sessions are coached by world-class players and coaches and the kids are tutored by local high school students.

“Squash on Track means the world to me.  I learn new things I make new friends and its a win-win for me, my brother Eva, and mom and Dad” - Tuli, 3rd Grade

“I like the program Squash on track because I learned better things and have improved my grades.  I loved the sport and the program.” - Anahi, 6th Grade

“In Squash what I learn is to always try your best and to never give up.” -  Eva, 5th Grade

“I like this program because they pick us up, they let us play squash, and help us with our homework.  I enjoy playing squash because I play games with my friends and get exercise while doing so. After we play squash we go to the classroom to do our homework and tutors come over to help us.  I appreciate all the stuff that they do for us.” - Nick, 6th grade

How the money will be used
Transportation is critical to making Squash on Track work. Currently, we hire a company to pick up the kids from school to bring them to the squash center, but there are numerous issues with this.  Firstly, it limits the ability to bring the kids on field trips, such as to the Tech Museum or museum art galleries. Secondly, it makes it harder for us to direct more money towards activities for the kids, as we are paying an exorbitant amount each year just for transportation.  Because of these issues, we are trying to raise money to get our van.

Costs

We are looking at a Nissan NV passenger van because of its low cost, its history of reliability, cost, as well as its ability for to be used as a 9-12 seater (meaning anyone with a normal class C license can drive it in the 9 seat configuration).  The price for this van ranges from 24K-35K depending on the age of the van.

THANK YOU

We would like to thank everyone for helping us out with Squash on Track.  We try and create the best possible program for all the kids and to help them follow their dreams.
