We are raising funds on behalf of Kunning Gambia and the Great Mind Skills Training Center, two local, community-run organizations in The Gambia doing incredible work to uplift and empower women who’ve had very few opportunities but so much potential.

Their programs provide practical, hands-on skills training, offered freely and on a voluntary basis, that help women gain confidence and independence.

Many of the women are young and haven’t been able to return to school, either due to lack of school fees or early pregnancy.

This is about giving them a real path forward.

What makes this work special is that it’s rooted in community. The volunteering organizers/mentors offer their time and compassion to walk alongside the women—sharing knowledge, offering training, and planting seeds of opportunity.

At the moment, the following skills are being taught:

• Tie and dye
• Batik
• Sewing
• Soap making
• Beading
• Decoration

Future Plans:

We also plan to start preserving fruits as marmalade and dried fruits . Although we have access to fresh fruits, the lack of necessary resources currently prevents us from processing them, which unfortunately leads to them going to waste. With the right support, we hope to bring this project to life soon.

For now: Support is especially needed BEFORE November 2025.

The funds raised will provide essential materials and supplies, which the organizers from Kunning Gambia and Great Mind Skills Training Center will carefully distribute and manage.

As the project continues and we see how many people are contributing, the fundraising goal may be adjusted. I’ll share occasional updates and photos through the fundraiser’s update section so you can see how your support is making a difference.

Since GoFundMe doesn’t currently support fundraisers based in Gambia, this campaign is organized from Germany, and all funds will be securely sent to Kunning Gambia and Great Mind Skills Training Center to support their work directly in the community.
