Help Aunty Laura Fight Against Aggressive Cancer
Donation protected
My beloved Aunty Laura has been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer called Her 2 triple-negative breast cancer. Aunty Laura received this life-changing diagnosis on May 18, 2023. Aunty Laura wasted no time in starting her battle against this invasive cancer. Just two weeks after diagnosis, she began a grueling five-month chemotherapy regimen.
She then underwent a lumpectomy after chemotherapy.
Last Friday, she began a six-week regimen of radiation, which is also negatively impacting her health.
The road has been tough, with Aunty Laura facing severe side effects that, at one point, led to a 10-day hospital stay. During that time, my Uncle Keino, who works as an independent contractor, had to take time off work to care for her, thus losing much-needed income.
The journey has taken a toll not just on Aunty Laura's health but also on the family's finances. My Aunty Laura and Uncle Keino had to allocate significant funds for home and car repairs, further burdening them during this challenging time.
Aunty Laura, who usually plants a vegetable garden every spring in her beautifully built raised beds by Uncle Keino, was unable to do so last year because of her cancer diagnosis.
As Aunty Laura continues her fight, she is scheduled to begin six weeks of daily radiation on Friday, January 12th. Unfortunately, her FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) has run out, and she is now facing the financial challenge of paying over $2,000 a month to maintain crucial medical insurance coverage.
How You Can Help: We are reaching out to our community for support during this critical time. Your contributions will go directly towards Aunty Laura's medical expenses, ensuring she receives the treatment she needs without the added burden of financial stress.
Every donation, no matter how small, makes a significant impact. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign with your network to help us reach as many people as possible.
Thank you for being a source of strength and support during this challenging chapter in Aunty Laura's life. Together, we can make a difference in her fight against cancer.
