“Imagine this,” we tell the children in the C2C Computer Lab, “we might have to shut down this program.”
In the lab, the air is alive with laughter. Children giggle as they type their first words, cheer when they master a new skill, and help each other solve challenges on the screen. Every click, every lesson, every shared moment builds not just knowledge, but confidence, collaboration, and dignity.
201 children have already discovered the joy of learning in a place where their dreams are valued. They leave with more than digital skills—they leave with hope, pride, and the belief that their future is in their hands.
But the journey isn’t over. 200 children are waiting in the queue, eyes full of anticipation, eager for their turn to laugh, learn, and grow. Beyond them, 2,671 children still dream of a chance to sit in front of a computer, explore their potential, and shape their own futures.
Why Digital Literacy Matters in Sierra Leone
At C2C Community Support Group, we are passionate about providing free ICT education to adolescent boys and girls. We know that digital literacy is critical to their future success. Technology is no longer a luxury—it is an essential tool in every sector, and we are committed to equipping children with the necessary skills to thrive in a world where digital competency is key.
Unfortunately, the reality is that many young people, even at the university level, lack basic computer skills. Studies show that 60–70% of university students in Sierra Leone are unable to operate a computer proficiently. Graduates without knowledge of essential programs like Microsoft Word and Excel often need additional training before entering the workforce. This problem begins early and, unless addressed, perpetuates cycles of unemployment and underemployment.
C2C Computer Lab Training: Closing the Gap
Our C2C Computer Lab in Tardi Lungi provides free, hands-on ICT education to children in underserved communities. Each session accommodates 14 computers, and we offer five sessions per day, training 14 children per session.
Currently, 80 children are actively learning foundational skills such as:
Introduction to Computers
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Publisher
Internet Safety (to ensure responsible and safe technology use)
Thanks to our supporters, we’ve successfully trained 201 children, but there is still high demand—200 children are waiting in the queue, their eyes full of anticipation. Beyond them, 2,671 children still dream of a chance to sit in front of a computer, explore their potential, and shape their future
