Empowering My Trans Journey: Seb's Top Surgery

Hi there! My name is Sebastian, and I'm a 25-year-old trans man living in Los Angeles.

I've struggled with intense gender dysphoria caused by my chest for some time now. While I've been binding to alleviate some of the discomfort, the reality is that my body and chest size make it incredibly challenging to feel fully comfortable. The heat of Los Angeles, combined with my heightened sensitivity due to my hormones, has made binding even more unbearable.

My wife and I took a big step by moving to LA from Texas in pursuit of better opportunities, but we did not have relocation benefits, and we're still grappling with moving-related debt. Despite the financial strain, being in LA has provided me with a safe environment to come out as a trans man, and I'm incredibly grateful for that.

I’ve been very fortunate to find a surgeon and the procedure is in-network for my insurance. Though I have relatively good insurance, there's still a significant out-of-pocket cost for the surgery, even after meeting my deductible. Unfortunately, due to the move, I'm still in the process of rebuilding my savings, and I don't have enough to cover the surgery and the related expenses.

The skilled surgeon I've chosen for my top surgery is in San Francisco, which means my wife and I will need to travel there for the surgery and recovery period. This entails flights, accommodation, and a rental car for about a week.

Any funds raised beyond what I need for surgery and travel will be donated to the Los Angeles LGBT Center to support their vital programming, helping others in the queer community.
