Greetings, Family and Friends,
I, Joseph D. Cummings III, son of Joseph D. Cummings II and Joy King, am presently a high school Junior at St. Petersburg High School. I am in the 5th Biennial Beautillion Militaire Scholarship Program, which is designed to develop young men intellectually, spiritually, socially and emotionally. The culminating gala event will be held on April 26, 2026, at the St. Petersburg Coliseum in St. Petersburg, Fl. This program is sponsored by the St. Petersburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in partnership with the St. Petersburg Association for Community Empowerment and Services, Inc. The Beautillion is used as a vehicle to raise funds for scholarships, as well as build character, enhance moral, social, and leadership skills of young men. It is a pleasure and an honor to be involved in this organization's prestigious affair. I am extremely privileged to participate in the program.
As a junior at St. Petersburg High School, I am actively involved in both the Construction Program and the 3DE program, where I challenge myself academically while maintaining a 3.8 GPA and working toward a 4.0. I am committed to excellence in my studies and take pride in preparing myself for a successful future.
Beyond academics, I am passionate about soccer and compete year round for both my high school team and a competitive travel team. Soccer has taught me discipline, teamwork, time management, and perseverance—skills that extend far beyond the field and into every area of my life.
In addition to school and athletics, I have been employed part time with the City of St. Petersburg for the past two years for the TASCO Teen Program. This experience has helped me develop strong work ethic, responsibility, and professional skills while giving back to the community I call home.
When I am not working or playing soccer, I enjoy drawing, building LEGO sets, and spending time outdoors. One of my favorite pastimes is walking throughout St. Petersburg to go fishing, which allows me to relax, reflect, and stay connected to my community. I also dedicate time to volunteering at my local church and participating in programs that support the retired community, experiences that have strengthened my appreciation for service and giving back.
After graduating from high school, I plan to attend St. Petersburg College (SPC) in the Architecture A.A. transfer program, with the goal of transferring to Florida International University (FIU) to pursue a Master of Architecture degree. My ultimate goal is to become an architect and create spaces that positively impact communities.
I am honored to participate in this beautillion, a program that promotes personal growth, leadership, scholarship, and community involvement. I am reaching out to ask for your support in helping me reach my fundraising goal. Any contribution, no matter the size, will directly support scholarship opportunities and help me continue participating in this meaningful program.
Thank you for your generosity, encouragement, and for investing in my future. Your support truly means a great deal to me.
I have enclosed the Beautillion Militaire Sponsorship Package. Please see the different levels of contributions. I must raise a minimum of $750 by April 12, 2026 but my personal goal is to raise $2,500. The deadline for ads, patron lists to be printed in the electronic souvenir journal is April 12, 2026. The final deadline for donations is also April 12, 2026.
Thank you in advance for your generous contribution and investment in my future.
Sincerely,
Joseph D. Cummings III
