Hi friends!

I have been given the opportunity to travel on a medical service trip with my hospital, RUSH, as we will be providing primary care for the residents of the Dominican Republic. Community Empowerment is the local organization that hosts us & handles all logistics. Their mission is to save lives & protect health by providing access to quality, community-owned, sustainable health care including primary care, surgical care & public health in chronically underserved & under-resourced communities in the Dominican Republic & Haiti. Community Empowerment works in tandem with local leadership to provide essential health care, while creating a self-sustaining system in which our assistance is no longer needed. Primary care teams, in partnership with local medical trainees, work to provide medical consultations, training & chronic disease management.

Donations on this page will help me afford to pay for my airfare & trip fees (food, lodging, ground transportation) & if I receive extra money I will be passing it along to Community Empowerment to support long term community development, health systems strengthening (electronic medical records system, medical supplies and warehouse) & water and sanitation projects in the local community.
