WISER: Empowering girls in rural Kenya thru Education

The WISER school in Muhuru Bay, Kenya, is a transformative educational institution that empowers girls and communities through education and holistic health initiatives. The school provides a safe and supportive environment for girls to learn, grow, and thrive, and has quickly established an extraordinary track record of success.

Just 15 years ago, only 5% of girls from the small village of Muhuru Bay graduated secondary school, and none had gone on to university in decades. Now, WISER girls are three times more likely to qualify for higher education compared to students from other schools in Kenya. The school has enrolled hundreds of students and boasts a graduation rate of over 99%. On the 2024 National Form 4 Examinations, WISER's mean score of 8.02 ranked among the top 100 schools in all of Kenya. And 96% of the Class of 2024 qualified to pursue university degree courses.

In addition, WISER has provided over 1 million nutritious meals to students, distributed thousands of textbooks to support their learning, and ensured access to menstrual hygiene products, saving over a hundred thousand school days for girls who would have otherwise missed school. The school has the only water filtration system in Muhuru Bay, providing clean water not only to WISER students but also to thousands in the community and surrounding areas.
