Empowering Everleigh Community, we are thankful for your continued investment in Everleigh’s bone marrow transplant journey. In the Spring, we shared that Everleigh was beginning to show signs of GVHD (Graft vs. Host Disease) not only in her lungs, but other organs as well.

In the Spring, she began a medical study with 2 new immunosuppressant medications. She has had biweekly appointments in MN all Summer. They were hopeful to have caught it early enough to reverse the rejection with aggressive care. Unfortunately, Luke and Emma have recently found out that treatment was not successful. The GVHD in her lungs is getting worse and she is now in full rejection.

Over the next six months the plan is to blast her with anti-rejection medications and steroids, one of which requires special authorization for use in children under 12 and may not be covered by insurance.

It has been very somber for Luke and Emma to receive this news. Everleigh is now 6, and while most days she is spunky, playful, and silly, her body is internally fighting against itself.

With this news, Luke and Emma will be making more frequent trips to MN where Everleigh receives care from her transplant team. We are humbling asking our Empowering Everleigh Community to step up again to show support to Luke, Emma, Everleigh, Lilly, and Emery as they continue their fight and make even more frequent trips to Minneapolis.
