Ya’at’teeh (Hello),
My name is Terilena Gorman and I would like your support in fundraising for my campaign. I am Coyote Pass Clan born for the Yucca Fruit Clan. My maternal grandfather’s clan is the Mexican Clan. My paternal grandfather’s clan is the Bitter Water Clan. I am from Flatrock/Nazlini, Arizona. My late father, Deswood Gorman, is a Vietnam Veteran. My mother, Lena Gorman, is a rug weaver. Growing up as one of the twins in a family of five, life was simple but challenging. We lived without luxuries like running water and electricity but we thrive and overcame most of these obstacles. From Nazlini Boarding School to Holbrook High School, I learned the importance of resilience, building communities and hard work. My educational journey took from local Navajo Nation schools to Fort Lewis College and Dine College where I earned my Associates degree. Later, I pursued my passion for teaching from Arizona State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education. My dedication to education led me to Vechji Himdag Alternative School in Sacaton, Arizona, where I worked with at-risk students thriving for their high school diploma. It was there that I found my purpose-to empower others through learning and support. I am excited to announce that I am running for the Apache County School Superintendent in this upcoming Primary Election (July 30, 2024) as a write in. With a firm belief in putting students first and supporting our hard working teachers, I aim to foster a culture of academic excellence and community collaboration. I believe in the power of education to transform lives and would be honored to have your support and vote as we embark on this journey together. The funds will be utilize for my campaign materials, travel expense, and ads for KTNN. Ahee’hee (Thank you)!
