Hands of Hope: Helping the Disabled Gain Independence.
“Creating economic opportunity, one handcrafted item at a time.”
Many adults living with challenging disabilities need to earn a little extra income. Hands of Hope grants provide opportunities for participants to create, earn, and gain increasing measures of independence.
Your support will help disabled adults start their own home businesses and turn their handcrafted products into supplemental income. Products like costume jewelry, fishing lures, woodcrafts, keychains, ornaments and other items.
In addition to seed money micro-grants for crafting materials and supplies, grantees will have access to online mentoring by volunteers on topics such as operating a small business, pricing, inventory management, creating social media outreach, financial management and more.
Rather than simply producing crafts for others to sell, grantees will become active in the marketplace and, ultimately, some will own their own small home-based enterprises. Each step being a step toward greater independence.
Similar in concept to the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize-winning Grameen Bank, funded participants will be asked – not required in any way – to occasionally contribute a small amount of their profits back to Hands of Hope to help make funds available to other applicants. Applicants will receive a follow-up response within 72 hours.
Thank you. Your support in any amount will help turn challenges into lifetime achievements.
