Hi! My name is Angel,

I started an organization called The Support Initiative that supports children of incarcerated parents by educating them on publicly available resources and scholarships. I accomplish this through an Instagram account that posts regular resources educating the public on the challenges children face, along with a directory of resources state by state.

I am passionate about this issue because my mom was a criminal defense lawyer, so I grew up hearing about the injustices these individuals and their families face. I have always been extremely interested in the legal system and policy, specifically from my time working for a lobbying firm.

Rather than creating something new, I wanted to inform folks of the available public resources. I’m also passionate about policy, and raising awareness can help enact policies that will benefit those going through this challenge.

While I will continue with my educational resources, I want to amplify my impact. I came across the organization Project Avary. I was impressed with how this organization impacts the children of incarcerated people.

I’m looking to raise $5,000 to help Project Avary live out its mission. I am extremely passionate about this issue and will continue to bring awareness and support throughout my high school and collegiate career. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Project Avary.
