"Welcome to Seed to Skillet!
At Grandparents Gentle Hugs LLC, we're dedicated to empowering the next generation with the skills and knowledge to grow their own healthy food. Our Seed to Skillet youth gardening program is designed to teach kids in Sacramento's Del Paso Heights neighborhood about gardening, nutrition, climate control, food sovereignty, and sustainability.
Our program focuses on:
- Seed starting and transplanting
- Plant identification and companion planting
- Mulching, irrigation, and soil biology
- Herb properties and uses
- Reading and tracking plant growth
We believe that by teaching kids to grow their own food, we can help address some of the pressing health issues in our community, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and childhood obesity. Many children in our area don't eat vegetables because their parents may not know what they are or how to prepare them, or they are simply not available. By growing their own food, kids can develop healthy eating habits and a lifelong love of nutritious food.
Your donation will help us:
- Provide gardening supplies and equipment for our program
- Support educational activities and workshops
- Expand our program to reach more kids and families
- Foster a sense of community and environmental stewardship
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our young gardeners and help them develop the skills they need to live healthier, more sustainable lives.
Thank you for your support!"
