The Empowered by Jo: Jo Habibi’s Legacy Scholarship has been established in loving memory of Mrs. Jo Habibi, a dedicated educator whose passion for empowering others through education continues to inspire. The purpose of the fund is to honor Jo's legacy by supporting international students in Loudoun County, Virginia, in their pursuit of higher education. Through this scholarship, we aim to carry forward Jo's mission of helping individuals "Find their Voice" and achieve their academic dreams. Your generosity in supporting Jo's dying wish to uplift ESL students' aspirations means more than words can express. Nellie Jo Habibi, 65, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024, at her home in Ashburn, Virginia. A devoted mother and a beacon of love to her family, Jo’s life was marked by unwavering dedication to her loved ones. After raising her children, she pursued her passion for education, earning her master's degrees in teaching in 2009. She found her calling as an English Language Learner (ELL) teacher at Broad Run High School, where she nurtured and mentored countless children and families. Her impact resonated far beyond the classroom, as she embraced each student as her own. In 2018, Jo was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, a battle she fought with unparalleled courage and grace until the very end.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jo’s life at 11 AM on February 13, 2024, at Christian Fellowship Church in Ashburn, VA.
