John Marcheschi and Danny Howard recently travelled to Sumatra Indonesia with Photographers Without Boarders to photograph the conservation efforts of Nuraga Bhumi Institute, a women lead indigenous conservation group. https://www.nuragabhumi.org/
John and Danny have traveled extensively photographing wondrous landscapes and wildlife and currently run educational photography trips together.
The Sumatra trip was to document the amazing work of Nuraga Bhumi Institute. The staff of Nuraga Bhumi operates a children's afterschool conservation program serving over 50 children, acquires land adjacent to the National Park to provide a buffer zone for the park and wildlife sanctuary, operates an all female group of rangers to patrol the land, provides micro grants to individuals to start businesses and sponsors capacity building workshops for indigenous women and disenfranchised individuals with respect to human rights and conservation.
As we were greatly impressed with the incredible work of Nuraga Bhumi with limited resources, we have committed to raise additional funding to support their efforts. Our goal is based on providing funding to purchase land and build a permanent conservation school as well as additional land to expand the wildlife sanctuary. 100% of the donated funds will be provided to Nuraga Bhumi to fund these programs as we will fund any fees related to your donation.
As part of the Photographers Without Boarders assignment we drafted photo articles for potential publication which you can view in the attached.
