Empower W.E.B. DuBois Academy Baseball Team

Hi friends! This is the High School Baseball team at W.E.B. DuBois Academy! These boys are really special. They have been working hard to refine their skills and build a successful baseball program at this wonderful JCPS school for boys. This group of boys have maintained impeccable character even in the face of hardships over the past few years. As of today, they do not have their own baseball field (though that will be coming soon) and have had to get bus rides to a different location to practice every day.

In past seasons, they have been called names, they have been taunted by other teams who have more money and/or no diversity, but they have pressed on with valor. Furthermore, current legislation seeking to end DEI for Kentucky’s schools could cause even more obstacles for W.E.B. DuBois Academy.

Many of these boys’ families work very hard to give them every opportunity possible, and the coaching staff sacrifices so much personal time and out of pocket expenses to make sure this baseball program can grow and thrive. A handful of these boys have already received college interest letters. Through this baseball program, the goal for many of them is to play at the collegiate level and hopefully receive scholarships.

Right now, they are the underdogs. However, if you are like me, you know a good underdog story inspires more hope than we usually can imagine. I want these boys to be inspired by the love of their community and become inspiring to their community.

On that note- I’d love the community to help me raise $2400 so that all their expenses can be paid. This covers travel, umpire fees, new equipment, and new uniforms (including shirts for cold weather). In the past, I have helped raise money just for my son as part of his work for his team which has covered past seasons. This season, I’d love to relieve each family of this one small part of the big work we have to do to help them succeed. Please rally around these boys and help gift them with awesome swag and equipment for the 2025 season! ⚾️❤️
