At the University of Houston–Downtown, one of the most diverse universities in the nation, students are finding their voices and building futures through creativity. The UHD Creative Writing Club is a student-led organization dedicated to nurturing talent, amplifying diverse voices, and fostering community engagement through the written word.

We are launching this fundraiser with a goal of $6,000 to serve as seed funding for our programs and events for this year. Every dollar will go directly to student opportunities, and because UHD is a commuter and first-generation-serving campus, your gift goes further here than almost anywhere else.

What Your Support Will Make Possible!

Host open mic nights and readings that provide students with a platform to share their work.

Publish a student anthology showcasing the powerful and diverse voices of UHD.

Invite guest authors and speakers to lead workshops and inspire our community.

Organize end-of-semester showcases with light catering, where students can celebrate their creative achievements.

Provide resources, books, and craft guides that make writing accessible to all.

Cover the costs of snacks and refreshments that keep meetings welcoming and collaborative.

With stretch funding, we also hope to sponsor field trips to local literary events, create club merchandise for visibility, and purchase recording equipment to capture readings for future students.
