About our Founder, Muwanguzi Elijah

Muwanguzi Elijah grew up in Uganda, orphaned as a young boy due to illness in his parents, HIV and TB. He was sponsored by a family in the United States (pictured below with his son), which led to accesssible education, basic necessities, and opportunity. This changed the trajectory of his life. Muwanguzi now lives with his wife and son in Masaka, Uganda. His heart and desire to build a future for his community led to the development of the Ugandan non-profit, Jesus Reign Community Empowerment Organisation (https://jrceuganda.org).

After knowing Muwanguzi for a year, I began to understand the unmatched passion he has to provide a good quality of life for his brothers and sisters living in the village. Morning, noon, or even during the night, Muwanguzi is always focused on the next steps to get the women and children what they need each month. Then, when the month starts over, he starts again pursuing monthly funding with a vigor and determination only someone with a burning passion can. In moments of desperation, his fire may dim, but never goes out, because he knows his heavenly father is holding his hand through his calling.

Our Vision

Our vision is a Uganda where widows, orphans, and vulnerable populations are not only supported, but empowered to lead fulfilling lives. Through our comprehensive programs and collaborative efforts, we envision vibrant communities where everyone has access to basic needs, education, healthcare, and opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.

Kirumba Village Life

Muwanguzi and his small team provide 50 widows and 100 orphans basic living necessities, and school tuition. The orphans and widows live in a rural area, the Kirumba Village, 15 kilometers outside of Masaka. This means they must travel by foot to the city without a consistent means for transportation. They do not have access to clean water. There is a scarcity of food, clothing, hygiene, medical supplies/treatments, school supplies, and tuition.

Children with disabilities require a different level of support and they need access to equipment such as wheelchairs. Medical needs are continuous as the water source is dirty, and malaria is rampant.

Muwanguzi, the leader of this group, does all of the work on a cell phone, with no access to a computer. Funding is critical. Though times become desperate, Muwanguzi remains steadfast in his missions as he believes with his faith, dedication, and experience as an orphan, he can help increase the quality of life of the community.

One hundred percent of donations go directly to the organization to pay the estimated, listed fees. You can specify how you would like your donation to be used, or suggest your own idea. You can make a flat or recurring donation to cover the most urgent expenses. You can sponsor one child. How do you want to contribute?

Just as Jesus brought comfort, liberation, and hope to those in need, so too do we strive to follow in his footsteps.
