My dearest friend, Segawa Ephraim, is a true local hero in Nansana, Uganda. We first connected on LinkedIn when I moved to Las Vegas in 2018, and our friendship has grown through many virtual meetings over Facetime. Segawa has shown me his community, introduced me to the children he supports, and given me a virtual tour of the town. Seeing the primitive farming methods and limited technology in his region made it clear how much they could benefit from advancements we often take for granted in the United States. One moment that touched me deeply was when the children sang a song about Segawa, calling him their hero. His dedication to uplifting his community is truly inspiring.

Segawa is now leading a project to empower youth in agriculture by boosting local poultry farming at his school. To make this vision a reality, we are raising funds to purchase a pellet-making machine for animal feed, a poultry incubator that can hold 1200 eggs, and an emergency generator to ensure the project runs smoothly even during power outages. These tools will provide hands-on experience for the youth, help them develop valuable skills, and contribute to local food security.
