Empower Transgender Kids

Please help support transgender and gender non-conforming kids in attending a new and unique summer camp! I’m a 15-year-old transgender ally, who, working with an experienced camp director, am volunteering to help build the first day camp in New England for young transgender kids. I need your support! I’m hoping to make this camp affordable to all prospective campers and am raising money for scholarship funds.
Often, transgender youth do not feel comfortable in traditional summer camps due to the drama and hoop-jumping that comes with bathrooms, cabins, boy/girl sports, etc. Summer camp is a place for kids to have fun, explore new interests, and learn about themselves and others. Our camp will provide a safe and empowering environment for kids surrounded by similar peers. We already have kids ages 6-8 who are ready to sign up, and their parents are beyond grateful for this opportunity. Campers will engage in activities that boost confidence and self-esteem such as rock climbing, horseback riding, theatre workshops, group games, and activities that encourage creative expression like art projects, journaling, and cooking. We are including transgender mentors as counselors, as well as professionals and parent trans allies as advisors. I’m excited to help provide an opportunity for these kids to feel free to be their own true selves.
Because many of our prospective families cannot afford the cost of camp, I am seeking funding to make camp available to every child. I am hoping to raise $3,750.00 to cover costs for families of ten kids unable to pay. Hopefully in the future, this camp will be fundable as a nonprofit- we are currently in the process of applying for our nonprofit status. In the meantime, I would love my friends, family, and anyone who feels moved to support these transgender kids and help make this a camp reality in 2019.
For confidentiality reasons, I can not disclose much information about this New England camp. If you would like more information or are interested in having your child participate, please email me directly- [email redacted].
