Empower Teachers and Kids in Davie and Rowan County

My name is Buffy Longworth and I was born and raised in Davie County, North Carolina. I’m a mother to three adult children and I have a passion for helping others in need. Something that is very near and dear to me and I strongly believe in is children’s education. I’ve never been a teacher but I have substituted at Cornatzer Elementary School in Davie and I have been a bus driver for the Elementary School and Davie High School. I love people and I love kids and I know there are so many kids out there whose parents can’t afford school supplies, money for lunches, money for field trips and I have many friends that are teachers. They struggle to have enough supplies for every child in their classroom and they have to purchase these things with their own money. They don’t make nearly enough of a salary to have to do that and live on their income. Good teachers will do without so that they can provide and see their students doing well and striving in class. There’s kids who go to bed hungry daily. They don’t have the proper clothing for the weather. This stuff breaks my heart. God has blessed me in my lifetime probably more than I deserve. I’ve had a good job, a roof over my head, food on my table and I was able to pay my bills without struggling.

I have gone through a period in my life where I was a single mother to three young children and unemployed. I lost my house and my job for two years and had to move me and my kids in with my parents. I made it with the help of my parents and God and I’m blessed. With that being said I’m not rich but I do have some money that I’m more than willing to contribute with to this fund to get started. I want to be able to help out the teachers, the kids, and the communities in Davie and Rowan County with the money. I will provide all receipts and pictures of everything purchased with the money that is raised. I’m hoping that with our help we can make a difference in a teacher's eyes or a kid's eyes because they know we are here to support them.
